- Meteoric Resources’ Caldeira REE project included in the Brazil Climate and Ecological Transformation Investment Platform
- Caldeira is the only mining project to be named in the initial phase of the BIP, which seeks to mobilise US$10.8bn in total capital
- Project financials improved earlier this week through inclusion of high-grade Figueira resource
Special Report: Meteoric Resources’ Caldeira rare earths project has been recognized for its role in advancing Brazil’s climate transition through inclusion in the Brazil Climate and Ecological Transformation Investment Platform (BIP).
Led by the Brazilian government and Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), the BIP aims to scale energy transition investments from public and private sectors, mobilize capital efficiently, and ensure effective deployment of resources.
The platform also plans to partner with multilateral development banks and environmental funds to support emerging technologies and develop innovative financing structures aligned with Brazil’s climate goals.
Notably, Caldeira is the only mining project named in the BIP’s initial pilot phase, underscoring its strategic significance for Brazil’s sustainable development efforts.
Dr. Marcelo De Carvalho, executive director, commented, “The BIP is a tremendous initiative for Brazil, bringing together government, industry, and finance to jointly address climate change. Meteoric is proud to be part of this initiative as we develop one of the world’s largest and most sustainable rare earth facilities, the Caldeira project in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais.”
He added, “Once developed, Caldeira will be a multi-generational operation capable of supplying sustainable, low-cost rare earth oxides critical to accelerating decarbonization, sustainable development, and strategic initiatives.”
